Cloud delivery models

IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) and SaaS (Software as a Service) are the three models of delivering IT services in the cloud.

IaaS

IaaS is a model in which the provider supplies customers with infrastructure resources such as servers, storage, networks, and management systems that allow them to run applications and services. Customers are responsible for managing the operating system, software, and applications. The advantage of this service model is that it is fully customisable.

PaaS

PaaS is a model in which the provider supplies a platform on which customers can, for example, create, test, deliver, and manage applications. The provider supplies the infrastructure and tools, such as a runtime environment, databases, programming tools, etc. Customers are responsible for the software and applications.

SaaS

SaaS is a model in which the provider delivers ready-to-use software that is accessible to customers via a web browser. Customers do not have to install or manage the software on their devices - the provider takes care of it for them.
